Drop Off/Pick Up

One of our most important jobs at school is ensuring the safety of our students. We have a drop-off and pick-up procedure for families who drive their child to school each morning or pick them up in the afternoon. This procedure was developed through a partnership with city officials, school administration, and local law enforcement.

In both the morning and afternoon, vehicles should use the drive-up area on the south side of the building for drop-off and pick-up. DO NOT use the front entrance area between 7:30–8:10 a.m. and 2:40–3:30 p.m. as this area is reserved for buses to load and unload. This policy is in place for your child's safety, and we ask that you please adhere to it.

1. Drop-off times are from 7:40–8:10 a.m., and school begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. Please do not drop off students before 7:40 a.m. Students are not allowed into classrooms until 7:55 a.m. and will remain in supervised areas until then. We cannot supervise students before 7:40. Breakfast is served from 7:40–8:15 a.m., so please plan accordingly.
2. Pick-up times are from 2:45–3:20 p.m. We have a staggered dismissal from 3:05–3:10 to ensure safety. Families will receive signage to display in their vehicle window with their child(ren)’s name(s) to assist with dismissal. If a child is not picked up by 3:20, they will be brought to the main office and families will be called. If another family member or older sibling is picking up a student, please remind them of the pick-up procedures and the importance of displaying the signage. Persistent late pick-ups past 3:30 may be reported to local law enforcement or social services.
3. Please stay in the lane along the curb line. Do not pull out to the left of traffic as it can cause accidents and disrupt the flow of cars pulling forward or backing out.
4. The drop-off zone runs along the sidewalk from the K–4 playground to the Pre-K playground. In the morning only, students may exit vehicles independently from the curbside (passenger side). If your child needs assistance exiting, please pull up to the Pre-K area where a staff member can help. During afternoon dismissal, students will wait to be called by name before approaching their vehicle. Please pull all the way forward in line as directed by staff to maximize space in the drop-off zone.
5. We recommend having your child enter and exit the vehicle on the right (sidewalk) side for safety.
6. Please stay in your vehicle. Staff are available to assist with car doors. If you'd like to walk your child into school, please park in the north parking lot and escort them in.
7. In the morning, the back loop closes at 8:10 a.m. so supervisors can transition inside with students. Please do not drop off students after 8:10 a.m. as there will be no supervision available.
8. The back parking lot is designated for Jordan Early Learning Services families. Be alert for young children and parents walking to and from parked cars in that area.
